I wanted to share details on my 2018 Ram 3500 Mega Cab Tuning and more on the other upgrades. Banks Monster Ram air intake manifold, and what the complete offers.
Banks Monster Ram Air Intake Manifold
If you haven’t heard, the factory heater grid, which pre heats the air inside the air intake for cold weather starts on these high compression 6.7 Cummins diesel engines. All diesels have pre heaters, these the ones on the 6.7 Cummins are called the Cummins killer.
There is a nut on the bottom side of the inside grid which is inside the engine. What happens is occasionally the plastic housing that has the power wire bolt, and nut on the bottom melts and allows the nut to fall off inside the engine, and it eventually finds its way down into #6 cylinder. This can and will destroy the engine.
See pictures above for the factory heater grid I just removed from my 2018 Ram 3500. As you can see, this is so restrictive and blocks the entire opening to allow air to come into the engine. See pictures below, and you can see the new Banks Monster Ram air intake manifold, compared to the old air intake, and how restrictive the open on the factory manifold is.
This new Banks air intake manifold really opens up for air flow, and has a pre heater that screws right into the top of the intake, which allows for pre heating the air inside the intake, and makes for much better cold weather starts.

2018 Ram 3500 Mega Cab Tuning
I must say, for a truck that weighs in at 10,000# when both tanks are full of fuel, this baby will run. And you talk about torque, wow…this truck will pull a load. I am averaging 14-18mpg with a 4000 up to 8500# trailer behind me, and when empty, I’m averaging anywhere from 22 to 26mpg, depending on the wind.
Not only am I impressed with my 2018 Ram 3500 Mega Cab, but I am so happy with this truck. With all the work and tuning u I and recent add ons, this is a strong, dependable and fun to drive ride!
