Having the TimberKing drag back system is a huge advantage for sawmill owners. This drag back system comes standard on the TimberKing 2020, 2220 and the 2520 sawmills.
What Is The Drag Back System?
On the 2020, 2220 and 2520 sawmills, not only are they fully hydraulic mills, but they have a metal platform at the rear that actually acts as a table for the drag back system to bring wood right back to. This feature is only available on the sawmills mentioned above.

This allows you to drag the lumber right back to the rear of the sawmill and take lumber off from the rear of the machine, right onto a trailer, wagon, or to stack and sticker. This is especially nice when you have helpers.
Setting Up The Drag Back Bars For Overall Best Use.
I’ve found on my personal TimberKing 2220 mill, that by using the 3”x3”x3” method, it works overall the best for all widths of lumber. Of course, everyone has their own opinion, but as mentioned, this works best for me and my mill. Below is a video of me showing how I set these drag back bars up.
This video is also available on my YouTube channel, and on the videos page of this website.
Remember, this is just a guide on how to set up your drag back system, and as mentioned, it’s what works best for me. You may find spacing yours out wider is better for you, especially if you are cutting all wide lumber.
How Can I See The Drag Back System In Use?
If you are wondering how to use the drag back system, and where to start, then stay tuned to this website and I will be doing many videos and posting them on this website. Videos for using the drag back system and many other videos, from maintenance, to daily inspections, to keeping your sawmill cleaned properly. I will also be doing videos of 2×4 cuts, 2×6, making 4×4’s, milling beams from start to finish, and much more.
If you purchase a TimberKing sawmill, and are fortunate enough to have me bring it to you, then you will get full one on one training and see the drag back system in use, if you purchase the 2020, 2220 or the 2520 mill. I always use this drag back feature when I train people, if the machine has it. Plus, you will always have full access to me via phone, text, FaceTime or live video help.
These videos will be added to the page on this website, marked “Sawmill Videos”.
Always do your best,
