Today I’ve been adding winch plate to my Sure Trac Gooseneck trailer. I have made this receiver tube so I can use it on my PJ bumper hitch tilt trailer, as well as this Sure Trac 25k Gooseneck trailer. The weld on style d-ring shown below are great, but never forget to grind back the side to be welded. I like to grind back to a 45 degree where I’m going to weld, so I can get a really good root pass in to ensure a solid weld.
These weld on d-rings are for using snatch blocks, which will basically double the pull load of your winch. I seldom will ever need this, but it is here encase of real heavy hard pulling loads.

As you can see in the pictures, I’ve added quick connects for transferring from one trailer to the other. These quick connects are heavy duty and very secure connections. I’ve used them for years, and love them!

The winch of my choice for this project (shown below), is the Warn 10k with steel cable. I have many more pictures shown in previous post of the plate I made for my PJ tilt trailer…(trailer winch install Warn 10k).

These pictures below are of the finished product. This is a 2021 Sure Trac gooseneck trailer that is rated at 25k. It has dual wheels and brakes on both of the 12k axles and 14ply tires. This is the 20+10, which is 20’ stationary with 10’ hydraulic dovetail. It also has 2-12k hydraulic jacks. My battery of choice for this winch is the group 27 deep cycle Interstate. Another Interstate group 27 deep cycle battery is located in the underbody tool box that runs the jacks and dovetail. Each battery has their own solar charger. These solar chargers are trickle 7amp which always keeps the battery’s topped off.

I will post more pics and video later once I have it in use.
Always do your best,
-Mike Pilcher
