It’s always good to be on the lookout for fakes, and to beware of fake Mopar Filters, for Ram pickup trucks.
I just had it happen to me once again on my 2018 Ram 3500 4×4. These filters say Mopar, look exactly like the OEM Mopar filters and usually work just fine. The one you really have to be extra beware of, is the rear fuel filter (the water separator filter…MO867).
The plunger on the faulty ones will be down lower and it will not prime up and the vehicle will not start. See pictures below of the plunger down inside the center threaded hole.

The fakes will usually look identical to the original OEM Mopar filters, and as previously mentioned, they usually work perfectly.
These faulty filters I ordered from MoparFilters.com and are usually just fine. The bad thing is, they would NOT replace this filter for me, because their “so called” time frame had expired.
These filters are much cheaper than from the dealership, but beware of fake Mopar Filters!! Make yourself a mental note, and check them when they arrive. If the MO867 filter (the rear fuel filter) has a plunger down low, like the one I have pictured above, then get ahold of the seller asap, so you can get another one on the way. Luckily for me, I always keep extra filters on my shop shelves, and I was able to pull off the new faulty ones, and replace. Then my Ram primed and fired right up.
Always do your best,
-Mike Pilcher
