I wanted to share these Land Guard raised bed gardens we’ve added to our garden area. In the past we’ve always made our own, using 2×6’s and 2×4’s, but they are only good for about 4-5 years before they are showing serious rot. Then the garden area looks like crap.

After looking into many different styles and shapes of raised beds, and something that would last, we chose the Land Guard brand. These that we chose are powder coated galvanized, which not only look good, but they will last. Galvanized is always a good choice when it comes to being rot and rust resistant. Keep in mind, you can get the galvanized silver color without the gray powder coat that we chose, but when the sun is bright, the plain galvanized/silver would be blinding bright.

Rhonda put these together in our shop, then once I had prepared the ground, we took them outside and placed them in the order that she wanted her garden area to be. Very soon, we will be adding a green house to this garden area.
After we’ve allowed the ground to settle, and with many rains, and driving on the area more to pack the dirt tight, I added the gravel. I always choose the 1” road rock because it’s fairly clean and white, which makes for a much cleaner, more professional finished look.

The last step of adding the road rock, was adding a fresh top coat of rock to our driveways. After smoothing out the gravel, I always like to drive on it with the track loader to really pack it down. This Kubota 75-2 machine is 10,000#, which makes for a great packing machine.

I will have another post coming soon with the green house added to this good looking garden area. We do our best to keep our place looking nice, but just like any farm property’s, and sawmill areas, often times it can become cluttered with logs, sawdust, bark and machinery.
I will also add, gravel isn’t cheap. 2 loads at 23 tons each was $1800 and some change…wow! Sure looks good though, when it’s all finished. 😂
You can find us on our Facebook page, and you can also visit our PinOaksFarm.com website for other projects and updates.
Always do your best,
-Mike and Rhonda Pilcher
