It’s such a shame that towing with integrity isn’t what’s on the top of the list, for those towing trailers, campers and boats. Actually caring about what you do should be TOP Priority, but unfortunately, it isn’t that way nowadays.
So what is the excuses most folks give when they are towing, or doing their day to day jobs, or anything for that matter? It’s usually, it doesn’t pay me good enough to do any more than I have to. Or, they think or say, I’m only good to do just enough to get by and collect my paycheck.
The example pictures below is a piece of equipment that I’m taking to a friend, and I’ve taken the time to tape the muffler pipe opening, encase of rain, plus I’ve added a 2” ratchet strap to the load arms sticking up so they cannot possibly fall down into the pavement, even though they are held up by the hydraulics. Covering all electrical panels to protect from road grime and possible rains. This particular machine has 3 jacks on each side that can be turned sideways and pinned up with a detention pin, which can possibly pop out on the rough roads, so I take them off and put them in the back of my truck, which is where they belong, for going down the road. Checking the torque on the lug nuts to make sure they are tight and right. Checking the tires air pressure. These are all quick, common sense things that most people will NOT take the time to check.

Hook and Go People Are Everywhere!
The folks that literally hook up something and go, are the same ones that never take the time to check lug nuts, air pressure in tires, and never make sure everything is tight and right. It’s why it’s called the “hook and go” people. These are all simple, but common sense things that should come first nature to someone who actually cares about what they do. And honestly, it is the top of the list for those that are focused on doing more than is expected and not just doing what is required (the minimums to get by). Truthfully, minimums are for the weak, the ones who are only focused on themselves, the ones who are always complaining about something or someone, the losers in life.
Are Complainers and Negative Attitude People Toxic?
Tough question, right? Well, not really. Common sense tells us that the complainers and the negative Nelly’s are everywhere, but it is up to us to decide who we take advice from, or hang around with. I’ve distanced myself from old friends that had the negative mindsets and was always trying to cheat their way through life by just doing the minimum amounts to get by, and complaining all the way. These are the people that always have problems with everything they do, and trying to blame someone else, besides themselves. They cannot get out of their own way, but to hear them tell it, it’s someone else’s fault. I’m sure you know folks like this too. If we allow these kind of people to hang around us much, their toxic attitudes will eventually rub off on you. Instead, find people who are in life where you want to be, find those that have what you want, those that are positive and upbeat, no matter what the situations around them may be. Here’s the deal, positive people always find ways to stay positive and negative people will always find something to be negative about!
Our Words Control Our Lives!
I’ve found out that life isn’t always fair, but the complaining and always verbalizing the problems of our lives never gets us ahead, but instead it keeps us in our problems and usually creates even more problems. Most folks don’t realize that the words we speak is usually the direction our lives go. It’s a lot like the rudder on a ship or boat, where the rudder turns is the direction the ship or boat goes. The negative person will not believe any of this, but that is the same person that has the messed up life, can’t get out of their own way, the same person that blames everyone else for all their problems, and the one that can barely get by.
Towing With Integrity…(caring about what you do)
Maybe it’s not towing with integrity for you…but caring about what you do should be! It’s a lot like driving 80-85mph in a 70mph speed zone, because everyone else is, so you do too. That’s not integrity, that’s showing everyone how you live your life, cheating and following all of the other losers in life. Sometimes we just have to stop listening to or following others who obviously have no morals in life, and instead do what we know is right. Being a good example, taking the extra steps in everything you do, helping others, not expecting anything in return, and speaking positive about everything and others always gets you ahead!
Always do your best,

P.S. Many have asked me, what kind of hitches I use. Most folks just don’t understand the load rating of hitches, and how important it is to make sure you have more hitches than you actually need. It all comes back to the doing the bare minimums to get by. Walmart hitches for example: Yes, they are cheaper than other places, or maybe farm supply stores, but are they rated properly?
You first need to know what you’re towing and how much does it weigh. Then what is the heaviest trailer or camper, or whatever will I tow. Then you find a hitch that is rated for more than the heaviest trailer you would ever tow and then find a hitch that will cover that. For me, I like to make sure I have no less than 20,000# total weight approved hitch, and no less than 2000# tongue weight approved. I know that would be a tremendous bumper hitch load, and I will never have that much on my hitch, but that is exactly what I have.
Yes, it’s overkill, but I never have to worry about it breaking, bending or failing. I also believe in some type of cushion hitch to help take the shock and rough road beatings out of my truck and me, but more importantly, out of what I’m towing. It’s called caring about my stuff and whatever I’m towing for me or someone else.

This bumper hitch shown above is an air hitch that cushions my truck, me and the trailers I’m towing. I can set the air pressure to what feels the best and never have to worry about it after that. This Shocker hitch is built like a tank and will never fail.
One last thing; the negative people will say, if the airbag breaks then you are screwed. Wrong!! If the airbag was to break or leak, it has failsafe built into it and only drops a few inches into the cushion bumpers and travel bolt. This is the Shocker Hitch that literally smokes every hitch on the market. This is NOT some weany Walmart or farm supply cheapy hitch. It’s not some aluminum adjustable hitch that bends and breaks with heavy loads and rough road treatment. These kinds of hitches are ok for all the folks pulling their little lawnmower trailer or their Jon boats to the lake to fish, and only going across town, but for what I do, they’re total garbage! Oh yeah, I use the Shocker air hitch on my gooseneck trailers as well. You just can’t believe how much it improves the ride of the tow vehicle and takes the beating out of the trailers as well.
