Maybe you haven’t heard, but lumber prices are on the rise due to tariffs. It has been reported by the Wall Street Journal, that lumber prices could reach an all time high since the pandemic in 2022. These higher prices can and will affect home construction and much more.
If the Canadian tariffs stick, then be prepared to pay inflated tariff surcharges. Company’s that use pallets, will more than likely be affected the most. Like many others, recycling will help save you money and reduce your cost.
On Monday, lumber prices rose to a 30-month high in anticipation of President Trumps tariffs on lumber and aluminum. Experts warn, this could turn the US housing market into a crawl. Remember how the pandemic made the lumber prices go through the roof?
Are You Planning Any Building Projects?
If you are planning to build anything, you may want to start buying your lumber right now, and not wait any longer.

This is why we purchased our own sawmill, so that we can take trees and timber already down, or that needs to come down and turn those trees/logs into usable lumber. I’m sure you know of timbers or land that needs clearing from storms, etc? If so, then let us know and we can possibly help you clear the land to harvest the trees and turn them into usable lumber.
Benefits Of My Own Sawmill
- Cut lumber to the exact thickness and lengths I want.
- Saves me money from inflated lumber prices.
- Allows me to create additional income if I choose to.
- Take downed trees I already have and turn them into lumber for our own building projects.
- I’m never at the mercy of anyone else, especially in times like this.
In times like these, having multiple sources of income is very important. Having my own sawmill is very valuable, especially when I’m ready to mill, I can. It doesn’t matter if it’s holidays, weekends or other. I never have to worry about lumber yards being closed, or driving somewhere and they don’t even have what I want.

As we continue to clean up Timbers, we stockpile these logs and save for lumber we will need, and possibly sell to others if needed.
Always do your best,
-Mike Pilcher
