I’ve been working on new TimberKing blade wipers for 1220 & 1400 series sawmills. This new design will bolt right onto the existing yellow adjustable guide roller shield. The orange scrub pad you will see below with the blade wiper is a scotch brite pad. These orange scotch brite pads are the best cleaning pads I’ve found.

I also have blade wipers for all other models of TimberKing sawmills, as well as automated blade lube systems. No more walking back and forth to turn on and shut off the water, or whatever you are using for blade lube. This system is a simple bolt on unit with easy install instructions.
A few other new items I’m working on are, blade guide blocks to keep the saw blade from taking dives. These guide blocks will keep the blade from diving unexpectedly, and keep the cuts much flatter than the stock TimberKing mill. This is exactly why my TimberKing 2220 was able to cut faster and flatter than any other TimberKing sawmill out there. I built these blade guide blocks for my mill, and it would cut fast and flat. This difference was drastically better than what it was when I first bought the mill. With these blade guide blocks and the addition of larger guide rollers and the larger 1-1/2” x .055 x 7 degree blade, the mill would out perform any TimberKing sawmill.

All of these items are not necessary to mill logs with the TimberKing sawmills, but in my opinion, they should come with the mills when purchased, just like other manufacturers do, like Woodmizer. One other key component is, blade lube. Water isn’t good enough by itself, and adding dish soap or pinesol isn’t enough either. Yes, it does work, but it is not good enough for quality cuts and for proper blade life.
The absolute best blade lube is diesel fuel. Fair warning though…TimberKing will tell you it’s not good and will destroy your belts, which couldn’t be further from the truth. I’ve used diesel a lot, as well as 100’s and 100’s of other sawyers, but we run the mills daily, weekly, monthly, yearly and TimberKing sells them, and don’t operate them day in and day out. This is by no means a put down to TimberKing, but just a simple fact! The second best blade lube, which I’ve switched to is, Cotton Picker Spindle lubricant detergent/Cleaner. Very concentrated and you add very little right into your existing water tank. I use windshield washer fluid with mine, and it is the perfect blade lube for all year round. It is oil based, so does a tremendous job of cleaning and adds much lubrication to keep the blade and guide rollers from rusting when not being used. The best part, is it’s cheap, and way cheaper than diesel fuel!

detergent/cleaner.
Most manufacturers, like TimberKing probably have not even heard of this secret sauce blade lubricant. But, in their defense, they sell them and don’t cut lumber, other than to train a new owner and they use water for that. The one manufacturer that does recommend Cotton Picker Spindle Cleaner for your sawmill blade lube, is Woodmizer. I’m telling you, this is the real deal, especially if you are as serious about the best lubrication, best blade life and the flattest cuts you can get. When you add this blade lube with my automated blade lube system, you will wonder why you waited so long to add these simple, but very effective items to your sawmill.
