You will find a video and pictures below of this 1620 TimberKing sawmill gas engine issues and how I was able to fix it and solved the problem these gas engines have.
The problem is simple. Having a fuel tank mounted in a much lower position that the engine, and not allowing the fuel tank travel with the saw head and engine, it creates many issues due to the need for approximately 6’ of fuel lines, which run up hill, then are rerouted through different places, up and down to reach the fuel pump and engine. This makes the fuel pump work way too hard, and causes fuel pump failures and vapor locks in the engine and fuel lines.
The solution is moving the fuel tank up to close to the same level as the engine and have it mounted so that it travels up and down with the saw head and engine. This relocate allows for over 4’ of fuel lines to be removed. Not only does this take all of the workload off of the fuel pump, but it removes all of the fuel issues these gas engines have on these TimberKing sawmills. These “must have” changes makes for a much more efficient and better operating gas engine.
I’m sure in these pictures and video you will see other “must have” changes as well? Sometimes when a machine doesn’t do what it’s capable of, and the manufacturer won’t make the changes, you just take action and do it yourself!
