Why Cabo Mexico for a vacation?

We just returned from an amazing trip to Cabo Mexico with friends. While there I was still able to focus on health and fitness, but have fun at the same time.

Cabo Mexico is a fun place to visit, but I sure wouldn’t want to live there at all. The water isn’t fit to drink, so it is very important to buy bottled water once you arrive in Cabo, or for that matter, anywhere in Mexico for drinking, brushing your teeth, or even cooking.

I focused on health and fitness the whole time we was in Cabo. Why? It is real simple! I have found that if I never make excuses about my health and fitness, then I will continue to keep getting healthier and more fit. Every other day I would get up, take my vitamins, mix a fiber drink and down it right away, then mix a protein shake and take it with me to the gym at our condo. Protein is so important for us to consume on a daily basis, and I did just that, and not just the days I worked out. Every other day I would get to the gym, spend 10 to 15 minutes stretching, and then start out with light weights and do 20 reps on each exercise, then gradually work up to heavier weights. I took my resistance bands with me  and used them to warm up and get real loose, then went to the weights. My actual workouts I was able to do in about 30 minutes if there was no one else there to have to work around. There was a few days that I just used my resistance bands to workout with and done my 30 minute workout in our room, instead of going to the gym.

Why just 30 minute workouts?

  • Short duration, high intensity… (No rest in between sets).
  • Keeps it fun.
  • Never get bored.
  • Get way more out of the workouts.
  • Helps your cardio tremendously.
  • Gets you in and out of gym so that you can go do other things.

Why stretch for 15 minutes?

  • Stretching for at least 10 minutes and preferably 15 will help you stay injury free, and it will also help you get much more from your workouts.
  • Makes your muscles react faster to the workouts.
  • Gets you in and out of gym much quicker.
  • Remain injury free.

When vacationing it is so easy to say the heck with the workouts and go have fun instead, or just lay around and be lazy. But at the same time, when you go back home it is also much easier to say the heck with your health and fitness routine and then go right back to where you was prior to the health and fitness program you started. Trust me, you will feel better about yourself if you just take the time to workout even while on vacation, plus the fact that you can cheat much more as far as eating goes, and still get by with it and not gain tons of fat while on vacation. Make sense? It is easy to get into that…procrastination and excuses mode, but do not allow yourself to do it, or you will pay the price later.
